First, a “surprise” graduation breakfast was sponsored by the Advancement Office, and the 8th graders received a class t-shirt and were taught what it means to be an alumnus of Holy Comforter. Prior to graduation, the eighth graders wrapped up their final months at Holy Comforter with a myriad of activities and exciting moments. More information will follow regarding how our community can assist Holy Nativity once they determine their needs in the weeks ahead. Judy is active in Florida’s independent school organization FCIS, and is a good friend to our school. Holy Nativity’s Head of School, Judy Hughes, co-chaired our own reaccreditation last February. Donations will support institutions such as our sister school, Holy Nativity Episcopal School, in Panama City, who suffered extreme roof damage to their facility. Once all money is received we will write one check from the school to Episcopal Relief and Development. If writing a check, please make it out to Holy Comforter Episcopal School and write “hurricane relief fund” on the memo line. This agency seeks to fund long-term relief and recovery efforts from disasters such as Hurricane Michael. You may click on the link to make a donation or bring monetary donations to the Fall Festival. Many thanks to you if you donated online as well.įinally, again if you are able, consider making a donation to Episcopal Relief and Development’s Hurricane Relief Fund. We also collected $215 in cash that was sent to Episcopal Relief and Development. Also on Fall Festival night, many wagons of non-perishable items were sent directly to the church's food pantry to replenish what was given out in the immediate days after the hurricane. The supplies that were leftover (especially extra bars of soap and toothbrushes) were given to a HCES family who have been instrumental in relief operations in Calhoun County. These kits have already been assembled by our Lower School classes and were delivered to those who needed them. The drive we did during Fall Festival was very successful - we were able to complete 170 hygiene kits that included a hand towel, a washcloth, a bar of soap, fingernail clippers, bandages, a comb and a toothbrush.

We wanted to send out an update on Hurricane Michael outreach to let you know how appreciative we are for our school, for the outpouring of supplies from our families and everyone's willingness to support our Panhandle neighbors during this ongoing recovery from Hurricane Michael. HCES Band & Guitar Student Attend Music Workshop.A very special thank you to Grandpeople's Chair, Katherine Boland and her team of volunteers for coordinating another incredible day for our special visitors. A grandperson may be a grandparent, aunt, uncle, friend or any special person. Grandpeople's Day, a long-standing Holy Comforter tradition, is held each year on the Tuesday before the Thanksgiving holidays. Middle school students invited their grandpeople to a traditional chapel program with performances from guitar students and the Middle School Choir. Grandparents in the 1st and 2nd sessions listened to the wonderful music performed by grades PK-1st and 2nd - 5th grade students. Three separate sessions for different grade levels invited them for time with their students.
